You know that helpless feeling you get when someone you love is having a hard time, but there’s nothing anyone can do about it? When I feel that way, I make a quilt, which is how this quilt came to be. I used the Emmy Grace line. I love it (see the little fawns hidden in one of the pieces) and it’s my second quilt using this fabric. I used the first half of the fabric on my Confetti Pattern.
I love embroidering names on quilts. I usually just trace the name onto the fabric with a pencil (though a washable fabric marker would be better) and then I use thick crocheting thread to do the lettering. I loosely followed the tutorial by Allison Harris called Road Trip Quilt. I did smaller squares to fit my scraps, and added more to each row. I love how the horizontal nature of the blocks makes the hand stitching fit so well. I backed it in my favorite ultra-cuddle fabric from Joanns. Now it’s all wrapped up and shipped. I love how quilts look when they’re ready to go in the mail.
