We’re anticipating the arrival of a new nephew in the next few months, which means…baby quilt. I asked my sister in law to send me some ideas of quilts she liked and it was hard to choose which one to make, but in the end I wanted to go for something really simple but modern. I love the two-toned look of blues, grays and blacks (does that make it three toned?)
I’ve also been going pattern crazy – so this one if available on my Free Quilt Patterns page or download the pdf. That way you can print off the instructions and take it with you to the fabric store for a fabric spree. I love walking into a quilt shop (as long as my kids aren’t with me…haha).
For the quilt top, I purchased the fabric from Hawthrone Threads which has a wide variety of modern fabric. I backed this quilt with a new material and I’m so glad that I found it. I was just browsing in Joanns and happened across it. It’s durable, on the thicker end, and beautifully soft. It’s called “Luxe Fleece” and you’ll probably want to have a coupon with you if you’re going to buy it because it’s on the pricey end.
I love making custom quilts because it always pushes me to new places. This quilt turned out so cute and I want to make more like it soon!
